Jaeger-LeCoultre Celebrates 100 Years of Aston-Martin with Three New Watches

In a stroke of serendipity, 2013 marks both the 180th anniversary of Swiss watch brand Jaeger-LeCoultre replica and the 100th anniversary of British luxury automaker Aston-Martin, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s partner for nearly a decade in the development of special, luxury-auto-inspired timepieces. The new timepieces comprise two from JLC’s Master collection, the Master Compressor Extreme W-Alarm and Master Hometime; and one from the AMVOX collection, the AMVOX5 World Chronograph Cermet, which marks the debut of a new case material.

The Master Compressor Extreme W-Alarm Aston Martin combines a world-time display with a mechanical alarm function. The time on the alarm can be read easily on the left-hand side of the dial at 9 o’clock, where two juxtaposed disks, one displaying the hours from 1 to 12 and the other showing the quarter-hours, appear through a large, semicircular aperture. The watch contains Jaeger-LeCoultre’s automatic Caliber 912, and is equipped with a “compression key” that enhances the crown’s resistance to water and dust by overcompressing one of the four gaskets. The 46.3-mm-diameter case combines titanium and stainless steel and has a special logo, created by Aston Martin for its centennial, engraved on the caseback. The black dial has a surface treatment evoking the grill on an Aston Martin car. The watch is on an alligator leather strap and comes in a special presentation box that also includes an additional rubber strap that the wearer can easily switch out with  the leather. The Master Compressor Extreme W-Alarm is limited to 100 pieces.

Like the Master Compressor, the Master Hometime Aston Martin watch features Aston Martin’s characteristic color scheme of black, white and red, though here the red is just a subtle hint: it is used for the tip of the central, openworked hand that points to the time in a second time zone. This GMT watch, powered by JLC’s automatic Caliber 975H, has a 24-hour subdial at 12 o’clock and another subdial for the running seconds at 6 o’clock. The time indication can be changed in one-hour increments, either forward or backward, making it easy for world travelers to adjust the time as soon as they land in a new destination and perform the opposite operation upon their return. The dial displays the Jaeger-LeCoultre and Aston Martin logos together at 3 o’clock.

With the new AMVOX5 World Chronograph Cermet, replica Jaeger-LeCoultre watches becomes the first and only company to use reinforced cermet, a material developed for use in high-performance racecar engines, in the field of watchmaking. Cermet is a high-tech material with an aluminum core and ceramic particles and covered with a 40-micron-thick protective ceramic coating, sought for its extraordinary lightness and shock-resistance. The AMVOX5’s Cermet case is 44 mm in diameter and water-resistant to 50 meters. The watch is equipped with a central chronograph hand with two subdial counters on either side of its axis (minutes at 3 o’clock, hours at 9 o’clock); an operating indicator at 6 o’clock with a date window at its base; and a world-time display with an inner bezel ring displaying world cities. The dial combines black, anthracite, white and red for a distinctive Aston Martin look and contains Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 752, an automatic movement with a speedy frequency of 28,800 vph.
